Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is an independent, global safety organization responsible for setting the standards for UL 142 and UL 2085 fuel tanks. For detailed information regarding UL standards or to purchase specific UL standards, please visit the Underwriters Laboratories website.
For ease of understanding, a UL 2085 fuel tank uses the UL 142 standard as the basis for construction but additional materials are added to classify a UL 2085 tank as a protective tank with a two-hour fire rating. The protective aspect of the tank comes from the additional testing to classify the UL 2085 tank as impact resistant and resistant to projectiles.
To purchase a copy of the UL 142 or UL 2085 standards, visit the Underwriters Laboratories website.
At Phoenix Products, we emphasize safety and quality into our generator enclosures and our UL 142 and UL 2085 fuel tanks. With the capacity to build free-standing fuel tanks up to 30,000 gallons and generator sub-base fuel tanks up to 25,000 gallons, our UL listed fuel tanks do not utilize external stiffeners or crossbeams. Structural integrity is built directly into the tank, resulting in functionally smooth sides and clean aesthetics, along with easier placement of the generator and any stairs and walkways you might choose to include.
Our UL listed tanks also feature rounded corners and a three-layer, premium paint system allowing for improved paint adhesion and protection of the fuel tank against low temperatures, salt spray, and ultraviolet light. When you purchase a fuel tank from Phoenix Products, you can be sure you’re receiving a high-quality product that will be delivered on time.
