FUEL
QUALITY
ASSURANCE
PROGRAM.
A
common
cause
of
Emergency
Power
System
problems
is
contaminated
diesel
fuel.
Designed
to
maximize
the
amount
of
distillate
diesel
fuel
that
can
be
obtained
from
a
barrel
of
crude
oil,
today’s
refining
methods
result
in
fuel
that
has
poorer
stability
characteristics
and
is
susceptible
to
degradation
and
contamination
as
it
is
stored
for
months
or
years
as
opposed
to “on
road” diesel
that
is
typically
consumed
within
30
days
of
refining.
Contamination
can
be
introduced
into
a
fuel
system
through
air,
water,
and
the
fuel
itself.
Aboveground
storage
tanks
are
atmospheric
tanks
allowing
air
to
enter
the
system
through
vent
pipes
where
the
oxygen
present
can
increase
oxidation
of
the
fuel.
Additionally
air
may
contain
dust,
microbiological
spores
and
bacteria.
Water
can
enter
the
system
as
air
in
the
tank
condenses,
carrying
contaminants
that
include
dirt,
rust,
and
microbes.
Over
time,
fuel
in
the
storage
tank
will
degrade
to
form
insoluble
materials
that
can
plug
filters,
foul
injectors,
form
combustion
system
deposits,
and
promote
corrosion.
There
is
an
interlocking
relationship
between
microorganisms,
water,
air,
and
unstable
fuel
that
produces
sludge
and
slime
known
to
commonly
cause
filter
plugging.
In
addition,
microbial
activity
creates
corrosive
by-products
that
can
cause
pitting
of
metal
fuel
tanks
that
could
lead
to
leaks.
As
part
of
our
commitment
to
be
the
most
comprehensive
provider
of
fuel
systems
and
generator
packaging
for
the
Emergency
Power
Market,
Phoenix
Products
now
offers
a
Fuel
Quality
Assurance
Program through our Petroleum Recycling Service.
Our
technicians
will
sample
the
fuel,
remove
any
existing
sludge
and
water,
inspect
the
tank
with
a
remote
camera,
test
the
tank’s
integrity,
polish
the
fuel
(removing
soluble
contaminants
down
to
0.5
microns
through
filtration)
and
finally
adding
the
appropriate
fuel
stabilizer
based
upon
the
sample
testing
results.
Additionally
we
can
perform
routine
maintenance
such
as
painting,
pipe
inspection,
or
tank
modification.
ENCLOSURE
SERVICE
AND
REPAIR.
Phoenix
Products
also
offers

an
entire
old
enclosure
and

of
our
services
include
improved
sound
attenuation
packages,
internal
or
external
muffler
replacement,
and
electrical
repairs
to
lighting,
fuel
level
alarms,
and
battery
chargers.
Almost
anything
outside
the
scope
of
the
engine
service
technician
can
be
handled
by
our
Service
Department.
